The internal disputes within the family of film actress Hansika Motwani have now escalated into a public legal battle. Alleging that false accusations are being made against her and her family, thereby damaging their reputation, Hansika has filed a defamation suit seeking ₹2 crore against her sister-in-law Nancy James. The incident has become a major topic of discussion in the film industry. Nancy James, the wife of Hansika’s brother Prashanth Motwani, had earlier made serious allegations on social media claiming that she faced domestic violence and mental harassment from her in-laws. These statements had created a significant sensation at the time.
Hansika strongly denied these allegations, stating in court that Nancy is spreading false information with the intention of extorting money. She accused Nancy of misusing her star image to make baseless claims. Hansika further stated that although she remained silent for a long time, the situation has now crossed limits, forcing her to take legal action. She expressed that Nancy’s videos and comments on social media have tarnished her mother’s dignity and caused mental distress to the family. After hearing the case, the court issued key directions to Nancy James, instructing her not to make any derogatory remarks about Hansika’s family and to immediately remove the controversial videos posted on social media. These orders have further heightened the significance of the case.
In this dispute, Hansika’s brother Prashanth Motwani has also extended his support to her, stating that the allegations made by his wife are not true. It is reported that differences between the couple began shortly after their marriage and have now escalated to a family-level dispute. Hansika’s legal team views the matter from the perspective of personal vendetta or business interests, arguing that Nancy is deliberately escalating the controversy. The situation is likely to witness further developments until the court delivers its final verdict. The ₹2 crore compensation sought by Hansika, along with the court’s decision on Nancy’s future statements, will be crucial in this case.
