Raw and rustic stories are increasingly finding space in Telugu cinema, particularly in films featuring star heroes. Ram Charan and Sukumar’s ‘Rangasthalam’ won attention with its rural setting and authentic atmosphere. Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’ followed with a mass character and Chittoor dialect, while Nani’s ‘Dasara’ also explored a rustic setting. Ram Charan’s upcoming film ‘Peddi’, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, and Akkineni Akhil’s ‘Lenin’ are also said to feature similar backdrops.

The trend has sparked discussion over why several star heroes are choosing raw and rustic narratives. With such stories currently finding audience acceptance, more actors and filmmakers appear to be exploring the genre. However, there is also a view that repeated use of the same formula could eventually reduce audience interest. As a result, some filmmakers are reportedly working on different storylines and fresh settings, suggesting that varied experiments could also gain prominence alongside rustic films.
