During the summer, temperatures rise significantly and many people tend to consume a lot of curd. However, to aid digestion with minimal discomfort, drinking buttermilk is considered a better option. This is because some individuals may feel a heaviness in the stomach after consuming curd. Such people are advised to take necessary precautions while consuming it.
Drinking buttermilk (majjiga) is healthier than eating curd in summer. Adding half a teaspoon of cumin seeds, a pinch of salt, curry leaves, small onion pieces and coriander to the buttermilk can help reduce digestive issues. Consuming curd in the morning is generally fine, but eating it in the evening or at night may cause cold, sore throat or phlegm-related problems.
It is also recommended not to consume raw curd excessively during the summer, as it can increase gas and acidity issues. Avoid drinking curd straight from the fridge; instead, mix it with cooked rice and wait for about 15 minutes. This reduces its cooling effect and helps prevent related health problems.
