The intensity of heat is increasing day by day across the Telugu states and weather experts have warned that temperatures are likely to rise further in the coming days. With the onset of summer, many people commonly complain of experiencing “body heat.” However, this is not a specific disease it is merely a sensation that varies from person to person based on individual body constitution and slight differences in basal body temperature. Some individuals naturally have a slightly warmer body temperature. Health experts note that excessive body heat may lead to symptoms such as cold, stomach pain, gastric issues, acidity, burning sensation during urination, skin rashes, acne and constipation. Therefore, taking proper precautions to keep the body cool during summer is essential.
To reduce body heat, adequate intake of fluids is extremely important. It is advisable to drink at least three liters of water daily, consuming it in small quantities at regular intervals rather than all at once. In addition to water, natural cooling beverages such as coconut water, buttermilk, lemon juice, lemon juice with sabja seeds and sugarcane juice help keep the body hydrated. These drinks can also assist in reducing heat-related issues like constipation, skin problems and urinary infections. Including water-rich vegetables such as ridge gourd and bottle gourd, as well as fruits like muskmelon and watermelon, is beneficial. However, fruits with high sugar content, along with deep-fried, spicy and junk foods, should be limited. Soft drinks, alcohol consumption and smoking can further increase body heat and are best avoided during summer.
Since the sun’s intensity is highest between 12 PM and 3 PM, it is advisable to avoid going outdoors during these hours. If stepping out is unavoidable, protective measures such as wearing sunglasses, caps, scarves or using umbrellas can help shield the skin from direct sunlight. Massaging the soles of the feet with oil may improve blood circulation and help reduce body heat. For skin rashes or acne, applying sandalwood paste instead of chemical-based creams can act as a natural cooling remedy. If severe burning during urination, frequent infections or persistent acidity continues despite precautions, it is important to consult a doctor immediately. In some cases, thyroid disorders may also cause heat intolerance, so medical testing may be necessary. Drinking water at room temperature or from an earthen pot instead of refrigerated water can provide natural cooling while retaining essential minerals.
