The much-awaited Bollywood spy action thriller Dhurandhar 2 has created huge buzz across the country. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film released on March 19 as an Ugadi special and impressed even before its release with strong advance bookings. The movie opened with massive collections on day one, showing its strong box office power. Reports suggest that the film earned around ₹103 crore in India on its first day, while special premieres added another ₹43 crore, taking the total close to ₹172.63 crore, though official confirmation is still awaited.
The success of Dhurandhar 1, which collected over ₹1300 crore worldwide, raised expectations for the sequel. Now, Dhurandhar 2 is reportedly surpassing those expectations and competing with opening records of films like Jawan and Pathaan. Trade analysts say the film is even performing better than some big releases of Sunny Deol. Made on a huge budget of around ₹275 crore, the film runs for about 3 hours 30 minutes but keeps the audience engaged with its gripping story inspired by real-life events like demonetization and the Uri attack.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s remuneration has become a major talking point. He played a double role as “Hanja Ali” and “Jaskeerat Singh Rangi”, which turned out to be a key highlight. According to reports, he was paid around ₹50 crore, making it the highest fee in his career. The film also features stars like Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna, with Akshaye Khanna receiving praise for his role as Rahman Dacoit. Overall, the film is emerging as a major box office sensation and is expected to break more records in the coming days.
