Corruption among government employees continues to be a serious concern despite regular salaries, allowances, and service benefits. Instead of focusing on public service, some officials are allegedly demanding bribes for routine work. The issue is not limited to a single department, as cases have been reported across revenue, police, electricity, and other public service sectors.
According to available data, hundreds of officials have been caught by anti-corruption authorities in recent years. Before November, over the previous five years, 621 officials and employees were reportedly trapped in corruption cases. In a recent incident, a Tahsildar from Shamirpet was caught while allegedly accepting an advance bribe of ₹2 lakh from a total demand of ₹30 lakh. Experts believe stronger enforcement and ethical reforms are necessary to reduce corruption and improve public trust in government services.
