The United States is reportedly facing a significant reduction in its missile interceptor stockpile after extending military support to Israel during the ongoing conflict with Iran. According to international media reports, the US has already used more than 200 THAAD interceptors along with over 100 Standard Missile-3 and Standard Missile-6 systems launched from warships deployed in the Mediterranean Sea. The heavy deployment has reportedly reduced Pentagon interceptor reserves by nearly half, leaving around 200 THAAD interceptors remaining in stock.
Defence analysts have expressed concern over the rapid depletion of America’s missile inventory, warning that any further escalation with Iran could put additional pressure on US defence preparedness. Reports also stated that Israel used fewer than 100 Arrow interceptors and around 90 David’s Sling systems during the conflict, including against missiles launched from Yemen and Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Pentagon defended the joint US-Israel military coordination under “Operation Epic Fury,” stating that both countries effectively shared the defence burden using fighter jets, drone defence systems and advanced missile shield technology.
