US-Iran Pause Brings Brief Relief, but Strait of Hormuz Tensions Remain High

Tensions in West Asia remain fragile despite a temporary pause in the latest hostilities between the United States and Iran. The Strait of Hormuz continues to be a major flashpoint, with commercial shipping facing significant security risks. A tanker reportedly struck a naval mine in the strategic waterway, highlighting the continuing dangers even as diplomatic efforts move forward. Recent maritime advisories have also warned that risks to commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman remain high.
