Tulsi Gabbard has released a series of declassified documents ahead of her departure from office, making fresh allegations regarding the origins of COVID-19 and the role of former US health official Anthony Fauci. According to Gabbard, the documents suggest that funding linked to US taxpayers was directed toward coronavirus-related research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. She further alleged that Fauci influenced intelligence assessments regarding the origins of the pandemic and misled congressional investigators on the matter.
Gabbard claimed that information obtained during a review conducted under the administration of Donald Trump indicated broader US funding for biological research facilities in multiple countries, including China. She alleged that efforts were made to prevent public scrutiny of the Wuhan lab theory and described the issue as a matter of public interest given the global impact of the pandemic. Gabbard, who previously announced her resignation citing family reasons, is scheduled to step down from her position on June 30. The allegations have once again reignited debate surrounding the origins of COVID-19 and the transparency of pandemic-related investigations.
