A group of Democratic lawmakers in the United States has introduced a House resolution condemning alleged racist rhetoric targeting Indian Americans and Chinese Americans after former President Donald Trump amplified a controversial social media post. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, along with Ted Lieu and Pramila Jayapal, stated that such remarks could increase discrimination and anti-Asian hate incidents across the country. The resolution urges elected leaders to avoid language that promotes racial stereotypes and division among communities.
The lawmakers emphasized that Indian Americans and Chinese Americans have played a major role in strengthening the US economy, technology sector, military, and public service. Civil rights organizations including STOP AAPI Hate and Asian Americans Advancing Justice have supported the resolution. The issue has once again triggered a nationwide discussion about immigration, racism, and the growing influence of Asian communities in American society and politics.
