Harish Rao Slams AP Over Krishna Water Diversion

Former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao has strongly criticised the alleged diversion of Krishna river water towards Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that water was released into the right canal of the Nagarjuna Sagar project towards AP without permission from the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB). He questioned the move, saying the three-member committee meeting to discuss AP’s demand for 47 TMC of water had been postponed, yet water was being diverted before any allocation decision was taken.

Harish Rao accused the Congress government in Telangana of failing to protect the state’s water rights. He alleged that 11 TMC of water had already been diverted from Srisailam through the Veligonda tunnel and that water was now being drawn from the Nagarjuna Sagar right canal as well. He said such diversion could hurt Telangana’s interests amid concerns over drought conditions linked to El Niño. He urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to stop the diversion and called on Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to press the KRMB to safeguard Telangana’s water rights.
