U.S. President Donald Trump has once again reiterated his claim that it was his intervention that prevented a war between India and Pakistan. Speaking to the media while traveling aboard Air Force One, Trump stated that during India’s Operation Sindoor in May last year, around 11 aircraft were shot down. However, he did not clarify whether those aircraft belonged to India, Pakistan, or both. He further claimed that his involvement had helped stop as many as eight wars globally and expressed disappointment over not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
Meanwhile, India has consistently rejected any third-party involvement in matters related to Pakistan. It has repeatedly clarified that there was no U.S. mediation during Operation Sindoor and that military de-escalation was achieved through direct talks between senior officials of both countries. Despite this, Trump continues to project the situation in his favor, even claiming that his intervention prevented a potential nuclear conflict. He also stated that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had thanked him for halting India’s strikes, allegedly saving millions of lives. It is worth noting that India carried out airstrikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan on May 7 last year in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
