Skywatchers are witnessing the rare celestial event known as the Micro Blue Moon. A “Blue Moon” refers to an additional full moon occurring within a specific cycle, while a “Micro Moon” happens when the full moon occurs while the Moon is farther from Earth than usual. When these two phenomena occur together, it is called a Micro Blue Moon.
During this event, the Moon appears slightly smaller and dimmer than a typical full moon. Despite its name, the Moon does not actually appear blue in color. Astronomers describe it as a rare occurrence that attracts the attention of stargazers and astronomy enthusiasts. Today, the Moon is approximately 406,093 kilometers away from Earth, making this celestial display even more special.
