Ponnam Prabhakar Slams FIR Against Rahul Gandhi

Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has criticised the FIR registered against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He said Rahul Gandhi had raised concerns over alleged discrimination and untouchability faced by Dalits and questioned the decision to register a case against someone who spoke about the issue. He also criticised the government over the alleged treatment of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Prabhakar said suppressing voices that question injustice cannot eliminate caste discrimination or untouchability. He highlighted the Congress party’s historical role in advocating social justice and protecting the rights of SCs and STs. He demanded that the BJP-led central government explain the concrete steps it has taken to eliminate discrimination against Dalits and also questioned the RSS’s efforts in this regard. He said protecting equality, liberty and social justice, as envisioned by Dr B. R. Ambedkar, is the responsibility of everyone.
