A low-pressure area has formed over the north Bay of Bengal, triggering a change in weather conditions across the Telugu states. The weather department has forecast widespread rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the next three days. The system is likely to move northwestward during the next 24 hours, increasing the possibility of heavy rain along with thunderstorms and lightning in several areas.
In Andhra Pradesh, an orange alert has been issued for Visakhapatnam, NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam and Markapur districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible tomorrow in Alluri Sitharama Raju, Anakapalli, East Godavari, Kakinada, Konaseema and West Godavari districts. Strong winds of 40 to 60 kmph are also likely along the coast, prompting authorities to warn fishermen against venturing into the sea. Telangana is also expected to receive rain in several areas, with thunderstorms and lightning possible at some places. People in low-lying areas and those travelling during heavy rain have been advised to remain cautious and follow official weather updates.
