Tamil Nadu has reportedly banned the manufacture, sale, and distribution of coloured papad and fryums as part of its efforts to strengthen food safety standards. The move is aimed at reducing the use of synthetic food colours in food products and encouraging healthier dietary habits among consumers.
The decision is expected to particularly benefit children by reducing their exposure to artificial food colouring that may pose potential health risks. The state government has said the measure is intended to improve consumer safety and ensure stricter compliance with food safety regulations through enhanced monitoring and enforcement.
