Supreme Court Takes Over Saikrishna Case

The Supreme Court has issued key directions in the Saikrishna lockup death case in Vijayawada. During Wednesday’s hearing, the court stayed the proceedings pending before the Andhra Pradesh High Court and directed that all petitions related to the case be transferred to the Supreme Court. The court also sought complete details of the case in a sealed cover by September 30.

The development comes amid the ongoing investigation into the case. The Special Investigation Team has recently submitted a remand report containing allegations about Saikrishna’s death and the subsequent handling of his body. The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing for October 12.
