The Supreme Court of India has delivered a significant observation on the issue of stray dogs, strongly criticizing the lack of effective action by governments. The court expressed serious concern over increasing dog bite incidents and public safety risks, stating that authorities cannot remain passive spectators.
The bench reportedly remarked that stray and dangerous dogs should not be left unchecked on streets and stressed that governments must take responsible action, including managing aggressive animals as per law. It further warned that officials may face contempt proceedings if they fail to comply with necessary safety measures. The court emphasized that public safety must be prioritized over administrative inaction.
