Amid the ongoing debate over the Teacher Eligibility Test in Andhra Pradesh, the Tamil Nadu government has taken a significant step concerning senior teachers. The government has decided to seek permanent exemption from TET for teachers who were appointed before the specified cutoff date.
The Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a resolution on Tuesday urging the Centre to examine the issue and make necessary amendments to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act. The government’s decision is expected to benefit approximately 3.28 lakh teachers appointed before August 23, 2010.
