Telangana Rakshana Sena Party chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha has announced that her party will distribute one acre of land to every landless poor family if it comes to power in Telangana. She said the proposed initiative would be implemented under the name ‘Bhu Lakshmi’. Kavitha alleged that the government talks about social justice but fails to provide adequate representation to BCs, SCs, STs, minorities and women. She also criticized the government over land-related issues and alleged that the interests of weaker sections were being ignored.
Kavitha said another round of land redistribution is necessary to achieve genuine social justice in Telangana. She claimed that the government has around 60 lakh acres of land, besides Bhoodan lands, and argued that sufficient land is available to distribute one acre to every eligible landless family. She also vowed to fight on behalf of poor families if their lands are taken away. Kavitha demanded that the government honour its promises on assigned lands and said her party would implement the ‘Bhu Lakshmi’ scheme after coming to power, providing one acre of land to every landless family.
