A significant development has emerged as the United States and Iran move closer to formally finalizing a peace agreement. According to international media reports, at least five Iranian vessels have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and entered international waters after the United States eased restrictions that had been in place for months. The move is being viewed as an early sign of improving relations and a potential revival of global energy supply routes.
The breakthrough follows the signing of a framework agreement by US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Formal signing ceremonies are expected to take place in Geneva, Switzerland. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that discussions between the two countries will proceed in two phases, with the first focusing on the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions, and reconstruction efforts, while nuclear issues and broader sanctions relief will be addressed later. Analysts believe the easing of tensions could help stabilize global energy markets and maritime trade.
