Amit Shah’s Sensational Announcement on UCC Implementation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a key announcement on the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Shah said the UCC would be implemented in all 21 states governed by the BJP-led NDA before 2029. He said the UCC seeks to establish a common legal framework for citizens, irrespective of religion, on personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption. He added that the UCC has already been introduced in several states.

Shah also asserted that the government would not compromise on national security, citing surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor as examples of its approach towards terrorism. He said the BJP had moved the country away from corruption and dynastic politics after 2014 and prioritised national interests. Shah highlighted India’s position among the world’s top five economies and referred to the 7.8% GDP growth recorded in the first quarter. He said the government had effectively addressed challenges including Article 370, Naxalism and unrest in the Northeast. He also announced the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public service.
