India’s space sector is earning immense global recognition, said astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, emphasizing that the nation’s transition toward human spaceflight marks a significant milestone. He noted that this progress places India in a distinguished position in the global space race. Recalling his journey to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-4 mission last year, Shukla shared that India’s upcoming first human spaceflight mission, “Gaganyaan,” if successful, will inspire many countries and instill confidence that such missions are achievable.
Reflecting on his time in space, Shukla described life aboard the ISS as highly disciplined, similar to following a strict school timetable. The daily routine begins at 6 AM, followed by briefings and scheduled activities until evening. He fondly mentioned enjoying tea while gazing at the universe through the ISS window. While witnessing Earth and the Moon felt surreal, he admitted experiencing moments of loneliness and emotional challenges, which he managed carefully to stay focused on his mission.
