The annual Shakambari Festival began with grandeur at the Sri Kanaka Durga Temple on Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada. The three-day celebration features the Goddess adorned with a unique decoration made entirely of fresh vegetables, leafy greens, and fruits, symbolizing prosperity and agricultural abundance. Temple authorities sourced nearly 32 tonnes of vegetables along with 4 tonnes of fruits from the Vijayawada wholesale market and local farmers for the special floral and vegetable arrangements.
Special rituals are being performed with prayers for abundant rainfall and rich harvests across the region. Officials confirmed that there will be no changes to the regular darshan timings during the festival, ensuring smooth access for devotees. Free Kadambam prasadam is being distributed to pilgrims, while the temple administration has made elaborate arrangements to manage the large influx of visitors expected over the three-day event.
