Pasunuri Narahari, a senior Maoist central committee member, surrendered before the Telangana Police along with his wife Danamma, according to C. V. Anand. Addressing the media while presenting Narahari before reporters, the DGP described the surrender as a major setback for Maoist activities. Narahari, a native of Somidi in Hanumakonda district, reportedly joined the Maoist movement in 1982 while pursuing his degree education and later rose to become a central committee member in 2017.
Police officials stated that Narahari was considered an expert in manufacturing weapons, mortars, rockets, and grenades. Apart from handling technical and organizational responsibilities, he also trained Maoist cadres in weapon production, maintenance, and repair. The Telangana DGP said both central and state governments are intensifying efforts to eliminate Maoist activities and appealed to underground cadres to surrender. He added that only a few Telangana-origin Maoist leaders, including Ganapathi, Jade Sujatha, and Vartha Shekhar, remain underground, while surrendered cadres are being provided rehabilitation support by the government.
