The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has made extensive arrangements to ensure hassle-free travel for passengers heading to their hometowns for Rakhi Purnima. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced that 5,000 special buses will be operated from August 27 to 31. Last year, 4,760 special buses were operated, while this year 240 additional buses have been added to meet the expected rush. Officials have been directed to deploy more buses wherever required.
The minister also asked officials to make advance arrangements for the expected return rush from the afternoon of August 30 through August 31. TGSRTC MD Nagireddy said passenger numbers, particularly women passengers, are expected to increase during the festival and consecutive holidays. Field-level officials and staff are monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to ensure smooth passenger movement during the festival and return journeys.
