Robotic Surgery Services to Expand Across Telangana Government Hospitals

Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said the state government is expanding advanced robotic surgery services in government hospitals to make cutting-edge medical care accessible to the common people free of cost. He inaugurated a state-level multi-speciality robotic surgery workshop at Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanathnagar. The minister inspected advanced robotic medical equipment and infrastructure and discussed their applications with specialists. He said around 90% of surgeries are being provided free of cost under the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme.

The minister said the Health Department, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, is taking steps to introduce advanced robotic surgery services in medical colleges and government general hospitals within the next six months. The services will be expanded to MNJ Cancer Hospital, TIMS, the newly constructed Osmania Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, Niloufer Hospital, the Super Speciality Hospital in Warangal and government general hospitals at former district headquarters. He said NIMS has already achieved the milestone of performing 1,000 robotic surgeries. Telangana is also being developed as a hub for advanced robotic surgery services, he added.
