Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to hold educational institution managements accountable for drug related incidents occurring on campuses. During a review meeting on drug prevention and security committees at MCRHRD, he said colleges and schools must share responsibility for preventing drug abuse and monitor activities both inside and outside their campuses.
The Chief Minister asked officials to study the possibility of introducing a separate law with stricter provisions to curb drug abuse in the state. He also suggested setting up dedicated monitoring cells in educational institutions, displaying toll free numbers and QR codes for reporting drug related information, and adopting a three stage strategy of detection, de addiction and strict punishment for repeat offenders.
