The Telangana High Court has granted conditional bail to Gade Innaiah alias Gade Innareddy in a UAPA case registered over allegations that he promoted Maoist ideology. The court directed him to execute a personal bond of ₹25,000 and furnish two sureties for the same amount. He was also ordered to appear before the KPHB police station SHO every Friday until further orders, refrain from repeating similar offences, avoid threatening or influencing witnesses and not interfere with the investigation or trial. He was further directed to surrender his passport before the NIA court.
The case relates to allegations that Innaiah participated in the funeral of Maoist leader K. Ramachandra Reddy alias Vikalp at Teegalkuntapalli in Koheda mandal of Siddipet district and made remarks allegedly promoting Maoist ideology. After the NIA special court rejected his bail plea, he approached the High Court. A bench comprising Justice K. Laxman and Justice K. Sujana conducted an extended hearing and delivered its judgment. The court observed that bail provisions under the UAPA cannot override fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution and said factors such as prolonged incarceration and health conditions could be considered in appropriate cases. The bench also noted that Innaiah had undergone three spinal surgeries and had been advised rest and physiotherapy, while information placed before the court indicated that physiotherapy facilities were unavailable in jail. The court also took note of the fact that interim bail had earlier been granted and that there were no allegations of violation of its conditions.
