Nearly 70 days after the disappearance of two-year-old Sunkara Jnaneshwari from CH Agraharam village in Tuni rural mandal of Kakinada district, police said they are submitting investigation reports to the High Court every fortnight. Tuni Rural Circle Inspector Chennakeshava Rao said details of the investigation carried out since the child went missing have been submitted to the court. The statement comes after advocate G. Srikanth filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging that the police had failed to trace the child. A High Court bench headed by Chief Justice Justice Lisagil and Justice Gunaranjan directed the authorities to submit a report on the disappearance. Appearing for the police, advocate Jayanthi said all possible efforts were being made to trace Jnaneshwari. The Rural CI said five teams are currently working on the case.
Meanwhile, Jnaneshwari’s father, Ganesh, has started a YouTube channel in his daughter’s name to share her photographs, videos and memories and help spread information about her disappearance. Since the day she went missing, police teams have been conducting searches while her father has been travelling from village to village distributing pamphlets and seeking information about his daughter. Despite these efforts, there has been no breakthrough so far. Ganesh said the YouTube channel was launched with the aim of reaching people in other states and increasing the chances of finding information that could help trace Jnaneshwari.
