

India continued their strong run against arch-rivals Pakistan with a thrilling 5-3 victory in their final Pool D match of the 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in Amstelveen. The win secured India’s place in the second round of the tournament, while Pakistan’s campaign came to an end after they finished third in the group. Captain Harmanpreet Singh and forward Abhishek were the stars of India’s attacking display, scoring two goals apiece.
Harmanpreet opened the scoring in the fifth minute and struck again in the 21st minute, while Abhishek found the net in the 11th and 24th minutes. Hardik Singh added India’s fifth goal in the second half to ensure victory despite Pakistan’s attempts to fight back. India and England finished in the top two positions in Pool D and advanced to the next stage. The result also extended India’s unbeaten run against Pakistan in recent international hockey encounters.
