The Telangana government has announced a major welfare measure for Anganwadi teachers and helpers by significantly increasing their service-end benefits. Under the revised policy, Anganwadi teachers retiring at the age of 65 will receive ₹2 lakh, while Anganwadi helpers will be entitled to ₹1 lakh. The move effectively doubles the retirement benefits previously available to Anganwadi staff. Earlier, teachers received ₹1 lakh, while helpers and mini-Anganwadi workers were eligible for ₹50,000. The enhanced benefits are being implemented in line with the Centre’s Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 guidelines, which prescribe 65 years as the maximum retirement age for Anganwadi personnel.
The state government has also extended these benefits to Anganwadi employees aged 60 years and above who voluntarily step down from service. According to the Women and Child Welfare Department, service-end benefits amounting to ₹15.61 crore have been credited to the bank accounts of 2,572 Anganwadi personnel during the 2026-27 financial year. Of this, ₹4.73 crore was disbursed to 473 Anganwadi teachers, while ₹9.65 crore was paid to 1,930 Anganwadi helpers. The government said the enhanced benefits are aimed at providing greater financial security and recognition for the services rendered by Anganwadi workers across the state.
