

The South Zonal Council meeting will be held in Mahabalipuram today under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will participate in the meeting. Chief ministers, senior ministers, chief secretaries and administrators are expected to attend. The meeting is likely to focus on issues between the states and matters requiring coordination between the Centre and the states, with discussions aimed at finding solutions to pending disputes and strengthening inter-state cooperation.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to seek a special package of ₹52,474 crore for the state. Various issues arising from the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act are also likely to come up for discussion. The meeting may provide a platform for the participating states to raise their concerns and seek resolutions on long-pending matters. According to the Union Home Ministry, strengthening coordination between the Centre and the states is one of the key objectives of the South Zonal Council meeting.
