Question on Hafiz Saeed at UN.. Shehbaz Sharif Refuses to Answer

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif faced direct questions from journalists over terrorism during his visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York for the 81st UN General Assembly. As he entered the UN headquarters, an Indian journalist asked him when Pakistan would stop harbouring terrorists. Sharif did not respond and continued walking. Later, as he left the premises, he was again asked when Pakistan would prosecute Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed. He again declined to answer.

Hafiz Saeed, founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, is a designated terrorist under Indian law and is wanted as an accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case. The National Investigation Agency has also named him as Accused No. 8 in its supplementary chargesheet related to the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, alleging a larger conspiracy involving Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives. India has also raised the issue of cross-border terrorism at the United Nations.
