Nara Lokesh Meets Torrent Group Chairman Samir Mehta

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh met Torrent Group Chairman Samir Mehta, Director Shan Mehta and Whole Time Director Jignesh Mehta in Ahmedabad. During the meeting, Lokesh invited Torrent Group to explore opportunities in Andhra Pradesh’s pharma clusters for API and advanced intermediate manufacturing, in line with the company’s Vizag plant and backward-integration plans.

Lokesh also urged the group to consider solar, wind and hybrid renewable energy projects in the state, particularly for industrial and commercial consumers. He proposed Andhra Pradesh as a destination for pumped storage, green hydrogen and other clean energy projects. Samir Mehta said Torrent is expanding its manufacturing capacity for high potency products and is developing 3.96 GW of renewable projects and 3 GW of pumped-storage capacity. He said the company is targeting 10 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and would examine the proposals from the Andhra Pradesh government.
