Thailand is mourning the loss of Princess Bajrakitiyabha, who passed away at the age of 47 after spending more than three years in a coma. The princess collapsed during a military dog training event in December 2022 due to a heart-related condition. Subsequent complications affecting her brain, heart, and other organs left her in a prolonged coma. Despite receiving advanced medical treatment, her condition never fully improved, and the Royal Palace officially announced her death.
Born in 1978, Princess Bajrakitiyabha was the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and was widely respected for her contributions as a lawyer, diplomat, and social advocate. She played an active role in promoting legal reforms, women's rights, and social welfare initiatives. Her death is being viewed as a significant moment for Thailand’s monarchy, raising fresh discussions about royal succession and the future leadership of the royal family. Analysts believe the development could have lasting implications for Thailand’s political and social landscape.
