The proposed IPO of the National Stock Exchange of India could prove highly significant for billionaire investor and DMart promoter Radhakishan Damani. He currently holds 3.91 crore NSE shares, equivalent to a 1.58% stake in the exchange. Based on the upper end of the reported IPO price band at Rs 1,785 per share, the value of his holding is estimated at around Rs 6,980 crore.
At this holding size, every Rs 10 increase in NSE’s share price would add approximately Rs 40 crore to the value of Damani’s investment. Conversely, a Rs 10 decline would reduce the holding’s value by a similar amount.
The NSE IPO is also expected to generate substantial gains for existing shareholders selling their shares through the Offer for Sale route. The 10 existing shareholders participating in the OFS are set to receive around Rs 17,035 crore from the sale, compared with an estimated original investment of about Rs 534 crore. This translates into a potential overall gain of approximately Rs 16,501 crore for these shareholders, based on the reported IPO pricing.
