

Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha clarified that no Ebola cases have been reported in the state so far and that no individuals showing Ebola symptoms have been identified. He assured the public that there is no need for panic and stated that the government is maintaining high alertness to prevent the virus from entering the state. The minister said strict preventive measures have already been implemented at airports and that the health system is fully prepared to tackle any emergency situation.
During a high-level review meeting held at the Aarogyasri Trust office in Hyderabad, officials informed the minister that all precautionary measures were being implemented as per Central Government guidelines. Passengers arriving from Ebola-affected countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan are undergoing thermal screening and medical checks at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. A special surveillance team comprising doctors, health inspectors, paramedical staff, and field personnel has been deployed. Officials also revealed that a 10-bed isolation ward has been established at Gandhi Hospital, while suspected samples will be sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for testing. So far, 58 travelers from affected countries have arrived in Hyderabad, and none have shown symptoms of Ebola.
