CM’s Remarks Are Meaningless: Kishan Reddy

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy strongly criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s remarks over the denial of clearance for his proposed US visit. Kishan Reddy said chief ministers and Union ministers are required to obtain the necessary clearances before finalising foreign trips. He stated that the rules governing such visits were not introduced by the present government and have been in place since Independence. Kishan Reddy also pointed out that Revanth Reddy had previously received clearance for visits to Harvard Business School and London. He alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to shift the blame to the Centre to cover up his own shortcomings.

Kishan Reddy explained that foreign travel clearances are assessed based on several factors, including the level and background of people attending meetings, national interests and foreign policy considerations. He accused Revanth Reddy of diverting public attention from the state government’s failures. Kishan Reddy also questioned the implementation of promises related to education, including increased budgetary allocations, scooters and education assurance cards for students, and international schools in every mandal. He further alleged that the Telangana government had failed in conducting the caste survey and said the Centre was carrying out the national census, including caste enumeration, through a scientific process.
