NHRC Orders Suo Motu Inquiry

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken serious note of the lathi-charge incident at Jantar Mantar. Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, the commission has issued notices to the Delhi Police. It has directed authorities to submit a detailed report within two weeks regarding the incident that occurred on July 20.

The NHRC has asked for comprehensive details on the medical assistance provided to students during the lathi-charge, as well as the actions taken by the police. It has also directed officials to submit CCTV footage related to the incident. Further action will be decided based on the findings of the report.
