Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla interacted with a 72-member student delegation from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati at the Darbar Hall of Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday. The interaction was organised as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat – Yuva Sangam Phase 7’ programme. The Governor emphasised that educational tours should go beyond shopping and entertainment, encouraging students to learn about the history, culture, traditions and technological achievements of the places they visit. He urged them to study each region’s unique features and share their experiences with others.
Referring to Telangana’s heritage, Shukla encouraged the students to explore the history of the Charminar, the architectural and technological significance of Golconda Fort, the Telugu language, local cuisine and festivals. He said the Yuva Sangam programme, organised by the Union Ministry of Education in collaboration with the University of Hyderabad from October 23 to 29, was an opportunity to gain knowledge and understand India’s cultural diversity. He called on students to strengthen the cultural relationship between Assam and Telangana by introducing the traditions of the Northeast to Telangana and sharing Telangana’s cultural identity with other regions. The students also shared their experiences of the state, praising its hospitality and Hyderabad’s technological development. Special Chief Secretary to the Governor M. Dana Kishore, Joint Secretary Komanduri Shashi Kiran, University of Hyderabad nodal officer Dr S. Arulmozhi, officials and faculty members attended the programme.
