Vishwak Sen is returning as a director with Cult, an A-rated, violent thriller being promoted as India’s first slasher film. The release trailer dropped just hours before the movie’s theatrical release, offering a glimpse of its intense violence, chilling sequences and graphic action. While the first trailer introduced the film’s premise and slasher elements at a party, the latest trailer focuses on Vishwak Sen’s character, DSP Sankalp Nayak. His character refuses to tolerate locals in Goa harassing non-locals, particularly Telugu people, and heads to the coastal state to protect them. The final sequences show his character embarking on a violent killing spree at a party.
The release trailer features intense action and stylised slasher sequences, with Vishwak Sen portraying a ruthless and aggressive police officer. The violence is presented in a stylised, almost cartoon-like manner. Murali Sharma plays a politician, while Srikanth Iyengar appears as a senior police official. Gayatri Bharadwaj and Tarak Ponnapa are also part of the cast. Sandeep Kakarala is producing the film under the Tarak Cinemas banner, Ravi Basrur is composing the music, and Tharun Bhascker has penned the dialogues.
