The Nagaland government has imposed a complete ban on the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and supply of gutka and pan masala products across the state. The decision was taken in the interest of public health, with authorities citing the harmful effects of these products on consumers.
According to the notification, gutka and pan masala often contain ingredients such as tobacco and nicotine, which are known to cause serious health issues. The government stated that the prohibition will help protect citizens, especially young people, from the adverse effects of tobacco-related products. Officials have also warned that strict action will be taken against those found violating the ban.
