Veteran Telugu actor and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Manchu Mohan Babu has fulfilled the promise he made to the Telugu Film Directors’ Association to support the education of a child from a financially disadvantaged member’s family. During the Directors’ Day celebrations held at Shilpakala Vedika on May 4 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, Mohan Babu announced that he would provide free education every year to the son or daughter of an eligible association member at his educational institution in Tirupati. As part of the initiative, association member and associate director Elipe Srinivasa Rao’s daughter, Elipe Dedeepya Siri, will receive free education from Class 6 through Intermediate, along with free hostel accommodation, beginning in the 2026-27 academic year.
Extending his support further, Mohan Babu also announced a donation of ₹15 lakh towards the association members’ trust and medical insurance. The Telugu Film Directors’ Association welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude for his support. Association president V.N. Aditya, general secretary P.V. Rama Rao, treasurer Neelam Sai Rajesh and members of the executive committee thanked Mohan Babu, saying the initiative could help provide better educational opportunities for members’ children.
