

A massive fire broke out in the trauma care unit of SCB Medical College in Cuttack, Odisha, leading to a tragic incident that claimed the lives of 10 people. According to reports, the fire spread quickly inside the unit, creating panic among patients and hospital staff. Another 11 people were reportedly injured in the incident, while thick smoke caused breathing difficulties for nearly 23 staff members present in the building.
Hospital staff immediately acted to rescue patients and shifted them safely to other wards. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed shock over the incident and visited the hospital to meet the injured. He announced an ex gratia of ₹25 lakh for the families of the deceased and directed officials to provide the best possible treatment to the injured. The Chief Minister also ordered a high-level inquiry to investigate the cause of the fire.
