Man Murdered a Month Before His Wedding

A young man identified as Yuvraj Singh Manchanda was allegedly murdered just a month before his wedding, sending shockwaves through Delhi and Gurugram. On September 6, Yuvraj went shopping with his sisters at Lajpat Nagar market in Delhi and purchased wedding clothes, including a sherwani. He later told his family that he had to attend an urgent meeting with a former colleague in Gurugram and said he would return home by around 10 p.m. However, he never returned and his phone was switched off. After being unable to trace him for several days, his family filed a missing-person complaint at Lajpat Nagar police station on September 11. During the investigation, police reportedly suspected his former colleague, identified as Watts. Using CCTV footage and technical evidence, police traced and arrested Watts and her partner in Uttarakhand. Police said the accused confessed during questioning to killing Yuvraj. Investigators suspect that financial transactions may have been behind the murder.

According to police, the accused also revealed that Yuvraj’s body had been dumped in a drain. Gurugram police recovered the body on September 10 and conducted the cremation on September 14. Yuvraj’s family, however, alleged that they were not informed about his death and objected to the police conducting the cremation without their knowledge. The family said they were denied the opportunity to see him for the last time. Yuvraj was reportedly the sole earning member of the family, leaving his relatives devastated by his death. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the exact motive and other details surrounding the murder.
