Liquor Shops Closed During Ganesh Immersion

Police have imposed strict restrictions on liquor sales to ensure that Ganesh immersion processions are conducted peacefully and without any untoward incidents. Wine shops, bars and clubs have been ordered to remain closed in several districts. In Warangal, Karimnagar, Medak and Siddipet, liquor outlets and bars will remain shut from 6 a.m. on Wednesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday. Wine shops in Nizamabad were closed on Tuesday, while outlets in Hyderabad will remain closed on Friday. Police have also stepped up surveillance to prevent disturbances caused by intoxicated persons.

For the final Ganesh immersion, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr M. Ramesh ordered the closure of liquor shops and bars across the Cyberabad Commissionerate on the 25th, from 6 a.m. until 6 a.m. the following day. The order applies to wine shops, toddy outlets and bars attached to restaurants. However, bars located in star hotels and registered clubs have been exempted from the restrictions.
