Zubair Baloch, the brother of Pakistani gangster and former chief of the banned Peoples Aman Committee, Uzair Baloch, was seriously injured in a shooting in Karachi on Thursday evening. According to local media reports, unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire while Zubair was standing outside his residence. He sustained bullet injuries to his chest and abdomen and was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical. Two bystanders were also injured in the incident.
Police said the attackers, who had covered their faces, fled after a shopkeeper allegedly fired back at them. Investigators suspect the attack may be linked to old gang rivalries. Meanwhile, reports suggest concerns are growing over a possible resurgence of gang violence in Karachi's Lyari area. Uzair Baloch, who is serving a prison sentence in Pakistan in multiple criminal and espionage-related cases, remains behind bars.
