Hyderabad Police Holds Coordination Meet with Ganesh Festival Organisers

Hyderabad City Police held a special coordination meeting with representatives of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi, Ganesh festival organisers and various committees at Visvesvaraya Bhavan on Friday to ensure the peaceful and safe conduct of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and immersion processions. The meeting was chaired by Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, and attended by senior police officials, including Additional CPs A. Srinivas and Tafseer Iqbal, Joint CP (Traffic) D. Joel Davis and DCPs from across the commissionerate. Sajjanar said Hyderabad’s Ganesh celebrations have gained international recognition and credited the cooperation of citizens and organisers for their peaceful conduct over the years. He said the police department had completed security and traffic arrangements and urged organisers to coordinate with police during idol arrivals, avoid speeding and dancing on vehicles, and transport idols safely during less-congested hours. Route inspections will also be conducted in coordination with GHMC and power authorities to address obstacles such as electrical wires, tree branches and road repair works.

The Commissioner directed every Ganesh pandal to appoint four to five responsible volunteers and register their details through the police app. He suggested providing volunteers with common-colour clothing or badges for better coordination with police personnel. Sajjanar also appealed to organisers to keep sound systems within permissible limits, citing complaints from patients in hospitals, senior citizens and residents. Organisers were encouraged to begin immersion processions early on the main immersion day to avoid processions continuing until the following afternoon and causing prolonged traffic disruption. Special security and traffic arrangements are being made at high-footfall locations such as Khairatabad and Balapur, with senior police officials set to regularly review the arrangements. Police will also install awareness banners at police stations. Officials and festival committee representatives called for collective community participation to ensure that the celebrations are conducted safely, peacefully and in accordance with tradition.
