Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended his greetings to the officials, employees, staff and their families on the 37th anniversary of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). He appreciated the board’s contribution over the past 37 years in supplying safe drinking water and managing sewage services for Hyderabad. The Chief Minister noted that these services have played an important role in the city’s development, public health and overall progress. With Hyderabad continuing to expand, he stressed the importance of strengthening water security and managing available water resources sustainably. Keeping the possible effects of El Niño in mind, he called for advance measures to protect freshwater sources and reduce the use of drinking water for non-domestic purposes.
The Chief Minister also welcomed the launch of the ‘Dial Green Tanker – Green Tanker Operations’ initiative, describing it as a timely step towards sustainable water management. He urged government departments, industries, construction companies and commercial establishments to make greater use of treated wastewater for gardening, construction and industrial activities. Such measures, he said, would reduce dependence on freshwater and help ensure its availability for essential household needs. Revanth Reddy called on citizens and all stakeholders to treat water conservation as a collective responsibility and contribute to building a sustainable, water-secure Hyderabad. He also wished HMWSSB continued success in serving people across the Core Urban Region (CURE).
